At Britannia Scholars Ltd we are fully committed to the National Code of Ethical Practice for UK Education Agents (2021). This Code forms a core part of the UK Agent Quality Framework (AQF) and sets the expected standards of behaviour for education agents who work with UK schools, colleges and universities.
The National Code is based on the ethical principles of the London Statement and is organised around five key Standards:
Organisational Behaviour
We conduct our business professionally, ethically and in line with all applicable laws and regulations. We act with integrity so that our work reflects positively on students, our education partners and the UK education sector.
Ethical Business Practice
We communicate honestly and fairly. We do not make misleading claims about our services, our relationships with institutions, or the opportunities available to students.
Objective Advice and Guidance
We give advice based on each student’s academic background, personal circumstances, aspirations and realistic options. Where appropriate, we encourage students to consider more than one suitable institution rather than promoting a provider solely because of a commercial relationship.
Student-Centred Practice
The student’s interests and informed decision-making sit at the centre of everything we do. We help students understand their options, admission requirements, costs, deadlines and conditions so they can make their own informed choices.
Organisational Competence
We maintain and continuously develop our knowledge of the UK education sector, admissions processes and relevant policies. Our Director has completed the British Council UK Knowledge Agent and Counsellor Training.
Our practical commitments under the Code include:
- Providing suitable education options based on individual circumstances and aspirations
- Clearly distinguishing between institutions with which we have a formal partnership and those with which we do not
- Never guaranteeing admission, scholarships, visa success or any outcome decided by a university or the Home Office
- Taking reasonable steps to identify and address concerns about fraudulent or misleading documentation
- Respecting the confidentiality and security of student data in accordance with UK GDPR
- Disclosing relevant commercial relationships and conflicts of interest where appropriate
